Chapter 1

Like Stanley, have you ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time and accused of something that you did not do? If so, what happened? What were the consequences of your actions?

  1. Hi, Ms. McGaw... yes, one time I was in the bodega across from school and I was with my friend who was trying to steal a juice. He got nervous when he saw the owner looking at us and put the juice in my bag and ran out. I was just standing there with the juice, the owner called me to the back and was yelling at me asking me why I was trying to steal.

  2. Wow Rosa, that is really scary! What happened after he yelled at you, did you suffer any consequences? Did they call your parents or the police? You have a real text to self connection to Stanley's sneaker situation. Do you have a connection to his consequences? Please remember when blogging to start with your name and who you are responding to. Example: "Rosa responding to Ms. McGaw" that way we know who is posting comments and to whom. Thanks!

  3. Rosa to Ms. McGaw sorry I forgot earlier... yea, it was really scary, I started to cry and explain what happened. I was lucky because he believed me. He told me to be careful who I hang around with though because just being with someone that steals can get me in trouble too, which I did not know. I learned a lot from what happened and I don't talk to that girl anymore. I did have a connection to Stanley in being at the wrong place at the wrong time but thank goodness I was not sent to the desert to dig holes, that would be crazy!
